New Lectures

We offer two new lectures this summer semester.

The course Antennas replaces the former lecture Wave Guides and Antennas and provides a comprehensive field theoretical overview of the concept of electromagnetic radiation. The topics covered are:

  • Theory of electromagnetic radiation,
  • Antenna parameters, linear antennas,
  • Group antennas,
  • Beamforming and beamshaping.

Completly new is the lecture Electromagnetics and Wireless Commmunications for Biomedical Applications. This module provides an insight into current and future electromagnetic methods in biomedical engineering with regard to radio and sensor technology. The following topics are dealt with:

  • Theory of electromagnetic fields in the human body,
  • Properties suitable radio systems,
  • Current radio applications (e.g., implants),
  • Current EM sensor technology,
  • Analytical models for EM wave propagation in / on the body,
  • Linkbudget estimates.
