On June 20 and 21 results of 12 years of research within the framework of the Collaborative Research Center 653 “Gentelligent components in their lifecycle” were presented at PZH campus in Garbsen. The motto of the event was “Production Technology on the Way to Industry 4.0”. Most of the institutes involved in this CRC 653 were of the department of mechanical engineering and department of electrical engineering. Many interesting presentations were held by members of the research project as well as by industry representatives. Based on live demonstration scenarios, over 140 participants have been informed about topics such as applications in manufacturing, sensors and integrated communication technologies.
The Institute of Microwave and Wireless Systems has presented a wireless communication system with a miniaturized communication module, which can be used within an industrial environment. This self-powered module can be integrated in metallic objects. The main objective is to enable a metallic component to save and process component-relevant data and information during the entire lifecycle and exchange those with its surroundings.
